About Phulara Ridge Trek
Scenic Ridge Walk Trek – Panoramic Himalayan Views Above the Clouds
The Phulara Ridge Trek is one of the most scenic ridge treks in Uttarakhand, offering trekkers a unique opportunity to experience long ridge walks, dense forests, alpine meadows, and breathtaking Himalayan mountain views. Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary region near Sankri village, this trek is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and adventure enthusiasts looking for a peaceful Himalayan experience away from crowded trekking routes.
Trek Route & Changing Landscapes
The trek begins from Dehradun with a scenic drive to Sankri, a beautiful Himalayan village serving as the base camp for many famous Uttarakhand treks. The route passes through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, and along the Tons River Valley, offering mesmerizing mountain views, pine forests, waterfalls, and charming villages. One of the most attractive features of the Phulara Ridge Trek is its constantly changing landscape — from dense oak and rhododendron forests to lush alpine meadows and open ridgelines. During spring and summer, the forests bloom with colorful rhododendrons, making the trail exceptionally beautiful.
The Iconic Phulara Ridge Walk
The highlight of the trek is undoubtedly the iconic ridge walk on Day 4. Unlike most Himalayan treks where ridge sections are brief, the Phulara Ridge Trek offers a long continuous ridge walk with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views throughout the journey. Trekkers witness majestic Himalayan peaks such as Swargarohini, Kalanag, and Bandarpoonch dominating the skyline. Walking along the ridge feels like trekking above the clouds, with valleys stretching on both sides and endless mountain views across the horizon.
Campsites & Wilderness
The trek route through Sikolta Campsite provides stunning mountain views set in open alpine meadows. Continuing to Bhoj Gadi campsite, the trail becomes more adventurous with gradual ascents through forests and open clearings, offering excellent photography and birdwatching opportunities. The final descent leads to Pushtara Meadows, a serene camping location combining ridge walks, forests, meadows, and mountain views into a complete Himalayan experience.
