Kedarnath Tungnath Badrinath Yatra - Three Sacred Himalayan Shrines in One Spiritual Journey
About Kedarnath Tungnath Badrinath Yatra
Three Divine Dhams in One Journey – Spirituality, Trekking & Himalayan Beauty
The Kedarnath Tungnath Badrinath Yatra is one of the most sought-after spiritual and adventure journeys in Uttarakhand. This comprehensive 6-day trek package is crafted for travellers who wish to experience the divine grace of three of the most sacred temples in the Himalayas — Kedarnath, Tungnath, and Badrinath — while enjoying breathtaking mountain scenery and beginner-friendly trekking along the way.
The Kedarnath Trek – Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva
The centrepiece of this yatra is the iconic Kedarnath trek, starting from Gaurikund and covering 16 km one way through some of the most awe-inspiring Himalayan terrain. Kedarnath Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and stands at approximately 11,755 ft, flanked by towering snow-clad peaks and the roaring Mandakini River. The trek passes through Jungle Chatti, Bheembali, and Lincholi before the grand reveal of the ancient stone shrine. If time permits, attending the evening aarti at Kedarnath is a profoundly moving experience.
Tungnath & Chandrashila – The Highest Shiva Temple
Nestled in the meadows of Chopta — the Mini Switzerland of India — the Tungnath trek is a short but highly rewarding trail of 3.5 km. Tungnath Temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world, and adventurous travellers can push further to the Chandrashila Summit at 12,000 ft for a magnificent 360-degree panorama of Himalayan giants including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba. The trail through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows makes this one of the most scenic short treks in India.
Badrinath – The Sacred Char Dham Shrine of Lord Vishnu
Badrinath Temple, one of the four sacred Char Dhams, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and sits on the banks of the Alaknanda River at approximately 10,279 ft. The temple's colourful facade set against snow-draped peaks creates an atmosphere of serene divinity. The journey to Badrinath also passes through Joshimath and Vishnuprayag, with the option to visit Mana Village — the last inhabited Indian village on the Indo-China border — adding a unique geographical and cultural dimension to the yatra.
Accessibility & Practical Details
The overall difficulty is rated easy to moderate, making this yatra suitable for families, first-time trekkers, and pilgrims of all ages. Optional pony, palki, or helicopter services are available for the Kedarnath section, ensuring accessibility for elderly travellers. The package includes accommodation in hotels, camps, and guesthouses; breakfast and dinner; transportation by Tempo Traveller; and an experienced trip captain throughout. With its perfect balance of devotion, scenic beauty, and adventure, the Kedarnath Tungnath Badrinath Yatra is the ideal choice for anyone seeking a soul-stirring Himalayan experience.
