Panch Kedar Complete Trek - Sacred Himalayan Pilgrimage Through 5 Shiva Temples
About Panch Kedar Trek
Sacred Himalayan Pilgrimage – Spirituality, Adventure & Himalayan Beauty in One Epic Journey
The Panch Kedar Trek is one of the most sacred and adventurous Himalayan journeys in India, combining spirituality, high-altitude trekking, and raw natural beauty. This 12-day trek package takes you through all five revered Panch Kedar temples — Kedarnath, Tungnath, Rudranath, Madhmaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar — each associated with Lord Shiva and deeply rooted in Hindu mythology.
Trek Route & Terrain
Starting from Rishikesh, the Panch Kedar Trek offers a perfect blend of road journeys and challenging trekking routes across Uttarakhand's Garhwal Himalayas. Covering a trek distance of over 100 km, this trek is classified as moderate to difficult, making it ideal for trekkers with good fitness levels and prior trekking experience. The diverse terrain ranges from lush green valleys and dense oak forests to high-altitude bugyals (meadows) like Lyuti Bugyal, ensuring every day presents a new and breathtaking landscape.
Chandrashila Summit & Himalayan Views
One of the biggest highlights of this trek is the climb to Chandrashila Peak at 3,700 metres, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of iconic Himalayan peaks including Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, and Trishul. The trek to Rudranath is equally rewarding, offering a deeply spiritual experience amidst remote wilderness, while the Madhmaheshwar trail showcases stunning alpine meadows and peaceful temple surroundings.
Spiritual Significance of Panch Kedar
From a spiritual perspective, the Panch Kedar Trek holds immense significance in Hindu mythology. According to legend, the Pandavas built these five temples to seek forgiveness from Lord Shiva after the Kurukshetra war. Each temple represents a different part of Shiva's body — making this pilgrimage a deeply meaningful and transformative journey for devotees and adventurers alike.
