Detailed Itinerary
From Delhi to Rishikesh, we will depart at 10.30 pm. The journey will take us overnight.
After breakfast, we’ll get started early today. Play antakshari, listen to music, or converse with the people around you while spending 7 to 8 hours in a vehicle. Due to the long drive to reach Duggalbitta, a beautiful campsite surrounded by small meadows. During the day, you can rest, take photos, take short walks around the meadows, or interact with the locals and fellow travelers at your leisure.
Rise and shine for today’s mountain morning. This is going to be a tough one, so let’s make the most of it! It will be a long and steep walk today as we begin our trek full of tales and extended walks. The 6 km trek will take you through the land of legends. Our next destination is Tungnath, one of the Panch Kedars and the world’s highest Shiv temple at 3680 meters high. It’s for this reason that you shouldn’t miss this event!
It will only take us a few more kilometers to reach Chandrashila Peak, the highest point of our trek. Here we can see the highest Himalayan peaks, including Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak, from a 180-degree angle.
In the evening, we will descend to Chopta, have dinner, and spend the night there.
As soon as we wake up in the morning, we will head towards Sari and then to DeoriaTal Trek. It is only 2km long, and then we will proceed to Rishikesh and finally to Delhi.

By Train
In terms of rail travel, the nearest station is Haridwar Railway Station, around 226 kilometers away. The train network in India connects Haridwar with most major cities. Taxis and buses can be hired from Haridwar to Chopta.
By Road
There are good road connections between Chopta and other parts of the country. Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Nainital2 are nearby cities that you can drive to or take a bus from. Throughout the drive, you will see beautiful views of the Himalayas
Best Time / Season To Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek
Summer (April to June): Most people trek during this time. There are pleasant daytime temperatures ranging between 10°C and 20°C. There is usually no cloud cover, making it possible to enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan peaks. Rhododendrons bloom along the trail, and the surrounding forest is lush and green.
It is not recommended to hike during the rainy season (July to September) as it can lead to landslides and slippery trails.
A winter trek is best experienced between December and March if you enjoy snow and want to experience a winter wonderland. There are stunning views along the way, but the trek becomes more challenging because of snow.
