Har Ki Dun Trek

Har Ki Dun trek is a classic. Har Ki Dun is a popular trail for trekkers seeking the beautiful Swargarohini massif.

We wanted to take a different route. The Har Ki Dun trek rarely gets seen by trekkers. Swargarohini peaks are a journey to be enjoyed along our new route, between incredible scenic beauty and ancient charm.

Here’s the updated route, which contains some of this region’s best-kept secrets.

Taking Boslow’s woods as an example. Boslow’s newly opened route winds through dense conifers and oaks before emerging into daylight. Occasionally, snow patches cut through the forest floor from high above (though only early in the season).
An amazing sight. The Devsu Thatch is just beyond the Boslow Forest; we cross the Ruinsara Gad. Although Devsu Thatch is extensively written about in the trekking world, it is perfect for trekking. Trekking to Har Ki Dun without visiting Devsu Thatch would be incomplete.

Thamsa River and Devsu Thatch are high up. Because of its size, it is technically a meadow. An astonishing landscape of grassy mounds creates a multi-tiered illusion within dense forests. The grass under your feet at Devsu Thatch is soft, moist, and inviting. In order to fully appreciate the landscape, we added a day of camping here.

Through ancient villages, you trek along the updated Har Ki Dun route.

Trekkers love these villages. Original designs on the wooden houses. Our temples have a culture, deities, and rituals from an unknown civilization. The temple is the center of village life. Dress and headgear are traditional. It’s like time stopped.

Taking a look at their homes, we can learn from them. Humans, animals, and the natural world coexist harmoniously in their lives.

Seeing this firsthand is one of the biggest reasons to trek. To make this as valuable as possible, we have included two days at a village in Gangaad and Datmir. Also in between is Osla, where traditions are most rich.

It would be a delight to continually trek beside the Thamsa river, to see the peaks of the Swargarohini range in the distance, and to take in the valley’s amphitheatre-like views. But we would not be done with several scrolls. A first-hand experience is best.

Overview - Har Ki Dun Trek Package, Uttarakhand

A number of bewitching and picturesque locations can be found in the Himalaya. Har ki Doon Trek is another trekking location in the Himalayas. Since the Pandavas chose this route when they traveled to heaven, this trek has historical significance. In Uttarakhand, Har ki Doon Trek can be a great way to explore the area and enjoy its caressing ambiance.

Uttarakhand’s Har ki Doon can be found in the Uttarkashi district. In Uttarakhand, the Trek Organizer recommends taking Har ki Doon Trek and Kedarkantha Trek either in winter or in summer. You should avoid traveling during the rainy season, since heavy rains can disrupt your plans. The ancient villages here are a sight to behold, and you can collect random memories while trekking here. This trek package can provide you with a unique experience of trekking and offer you the chance to create a lifetime of memories.

Traveling in this stunning area will leave an indelible impression on you. In your favourite places to visit, Har ki Doon Trek will take its place.

This hike is perfect for experienced hikers and ecotourists because of its stunning natural beauty and fascinating cultural importance. Located in the Uttarkashi district of north-west Uttarakhand, this valley hike is part of the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. The only way to reach this cradle-shaped valley is by hiking. From the trailhead, the Har Ki Dun valley is 25 kilometers away, for a total of 50 kilometers of hiking. It takes two or three days to go to the valley and two days to go back. The trail to Har Ki Dun isn’t too difficult, with just a few brief, somewhat steep sections making for a gentle climb. The distance is the only real obstacle; four out of the five days of trekking will need us to travel more than 10 kilometers each day. Any family with children older than ten can do it. Jack Gibson, a teacher at the Doon School, Tenzing Norgay, and John Martyn were the climbers who reached the peak of Bandarpunch in 1937. Gibson mentored aspiring Indian mountaineers and led multiple expeditions in the area. These expeditions brought attention to the Har Ki Doon Valley’s flora, fauna, and Garhwali culture. The phrase “Har Ki Dun” might mean two things to different people. One meaning is “Valley of Gods” which is a direct translation from the original: “Har” is the name of “Shiva,” one of the Hindu trinity gods, and “Dun” is the word for valley. The second name has stronger ties to the heritage and customs of the area. “The sound of Shiva” or the “Sound of God” is the alternative translation. Drummers welcome Lord Someshwara, a manifestation of Shiva, at a festival held annually in the valley during the monsoon. Legend has it that a Dhaki went missing in the Valley long ago. It is said that every year during the festival month, at the crack of dawn, one can sometimes make out the faraway sound of the Dhaki drumming. The drums have been heard many times over the lifetimes of several village elders.

It will take around 9 hours to reach Sankri, and during these hours you will be able to admire several scenic locations on the way.
The road to Sankri will take you through many pleasant destinations. Along the twisting roads, you’ll pass through exciting locations such as Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, and Purola. Camping is available in a quaint village within Govind National Park, 13 kilometers away.

In the second, you’ll experience everything from Sankri to Taluka. Approximately 12 kilometers will be covered during our drive from Sankri. In an hour’s journey, you’ll arrive at Taluka, where a trek to Puani Garaat begins. As you trek along the river and over the wooden bridge, you will feel like you are in an ancient era. You will be able to see beautiful mountains of Uttarakhand as you reach Taluka. Several houses are located in the village, and there is an exciting Himalayan range that surrounds it.

Within an hour of walking, you will reach the Supin river tributary bridge. A camping ground awaits you after you cross the bridge, where you can also start camping. As well as climbing and crossing the roads, you can also participate in other exciting activities here. After exploring Gangaad, a hamlet with just a few residents, you will move on to the next activity. There are majestic views, lush greenery, wild orchids, and snow-capped peaks to be found here. Even though this trek is quite arduous, the pleasant night stay under the stars will make the time pass more quickly.

Osla town is a great place to explore at this time. In an hour’s hike, you will reach this small town. There are about 2,000 people living in Osla, which is a small village located 8,500 feet above sea level. Visiting Lord Shiva temple and witnessing its miraculous architecture can bless you. On the way to the mountain bend from Osla, trekkers must cross two streams, the second stream being crossed by a wooden bridge. Besides the meadows over Supin, there will be two more below the valley. Ruinsara River, Bali Pass, and Dev Thach grasslands are all accessed via the wooden bridge. As you move towards the inhabited areas, wheat fields will be visible. Your day will be made when Supin and Ruinsara meet. It is sure to add more pleasure to your trekking experience when you are able to see Black Peak and Bandarpoonch in their majestic entirety. Once you reach Kalkatiyadhaar, which is flat land, you will be able to pitch your tent.

During the Har ki Dun Trek package, this is the most important day. Today you will trek to Kalkatiyadhaar with mesmerizing views along the way. Our attention will be drawn to the glacier basin, which has moraines and alpine meadows. During your trip across Dev Thach’s pastures, you can enjoy swaying and tall pine trees. At this place, two rivers meet, and then they split into two. In one direction, we arrive at Har ki Doon, while in the other, we arrive at Ruinsara Taal, Bali Pass.
Climbing Har ki Doon and Hata Peak will propel you. Our enthusiasm will continue to grow as we climb higher and higher. Upon reaching Har Ki Doon, you will ascend a wooden bridge gradually. There are sufficient locations to explore on a trekking trip, including Maninda Taal, Borasu Pass and Jaundar Glacier. Once all your memories have been collected, it’s time to return to Kalkatiyadhaar camp.

As a result of yesterday’s exhausting journey, we’ll travel back to Puani Garaat. As part of this returning trek, we will stop at Osla along the way. It will take you around five hours to reach the required location after you descend 3,500 feet. After enjoying a satisfying breakfast, you can embark on the next 6.5 kilometers of easy trekking. It is enticing to walk in the Himalayan range because of its enticing charm. At Puani Garaat, you can again enjoy random glimpses of snow-clad peaks.

We will begin our journey to Taluka today by moving forward from Puani Garaat. Walking along the river trail, which is 10 kilometers long, will take around 5 hours. In the Taluka, we will gradually see forests and bridges.
As soon as we reach Taluka, we will travel to Sankri for an overnight stay. If you wish to spend one night exploring the culture, language, food, and local food, you can do so in one night.

Our departure from Sankri on this day will be accompanied by heavy hearts. Now that the trip has come to an end, we can look back on a majestic and overwhelming experience. It will take approximately 9 to 10 hours to reach Dehradun, so we will need to depart early in the morning. As part of the discussion, Har ki Doon Trek Organizer can also arrange transportation for you.
